2018 iPhones: Here's what we know so far
Even before iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X were launched, rumors about iPhones for 2018 had already surfaced. If they are to be believed, 2018 is poised to be an exciting year for iPhone fans. Apple is reportedly going to continue with its three iPhone line-up for 2018 too. Here's more on what Apple is expected to offer.
What we know about the three device line-up
As far as rumors go, Apple's three device line-up will consist of a 5.8-inch OLED display iPhone, believed to be the successor to the iPhone X, a larger 6.5-inch OLED display iPhone, and a more affordable 6.1-inch Full Active LCD display iPhone. The 6.1-inch iPhone is expected to be the successor to the iPhone 8 Plus, and will offer improved specifications.
All three phones will have an edge-to-edge infinity display
Design-wise, all three iPhones, set to be released in 2018, will feature an edge-to-edge infinity display with almost non-existent bezels, pretty similar to iPhone X. While the two expensive OLED models will come with stainless steel frames and dual-lens cameras, the more affordable 6.1-inch iPhone is expected to have an aluminium frame and single-lens camera to keep the price low.
All the three iPhones will support Face ID
All the three iPhones scheduled for launch in 2018 will feature TrueDepth cameras which support Face ID, thereby putting an official end to Apple's Home button and Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Further, the 6.1-inch iPhone, owing to its lower price tag, might not be equipped with wireless charging, and the display might not support 3D Touch. The 6.5-inch iPhone could include dual SIM support.
New processors and better RAM are expected
All the three iPhones are expected to come with Apple's new A12 processors, as well as improved LTE chips from Qualcomm and Intel for faster LTE speeds. Additionally, the OLED iPhones are also expected to come with 4GB RAM, while the LCD iPhone is expected to sport 3GB of RAM. Notably, the 6.5-inch iPhone is expected to come with a heavy-duty battery.
The estimate price tags of the 2018 iPhones
The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone is expected to be priced between $700-800. While the price range for the OLED iPhones isn't known, Macrumours has estimated the 5.8-inch iPhone and the 6.5-inch iPhone's price tags to be around $999 and $1,099 respectively. Meanwhile, instead of lowering its price, Apple will reportedly discontinue the iPhone X once the new models come out.
