Addressing this concern, Western Digital (WD) has launched a range of 'Black' external hard disks that offer upto 12TB of storage, allowing you to store upto 300 games. Here's all about it.
WD Black P50 Game Drive SSD: Price starts at $180
The WD range starts with the P50 Game Drive SSD series. This aluminum drive offers 20Gbps Superspeed USB over Type-C for transfer speeds of upto 1,980Mbps. The range has a 500GB model which costs $180, a 1TB model priced at $250, and a $500 worth 2TB variant. The P50 SSD comes with a five-year warranty and is expected to ship later this year.
WD Black P10 Game Drive: Price starts at $90
The WD Black P10 Game Drive offers transfer speeds of upto 140Mbps and supports Superspeed USB 5Gbps connectivity. The range starts at $90 for the 2TB model and goes upto $150 for the 5TB variant. There's also a P10 Game Drive Xbox One edition which comes in 3TB and 5TB models, and offers a two-month free subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
WD Black D10 Game Drive: Costs $200 for 8TB model
The WD Black D10 Game Drive, with a capacity of 8TB, offers space for upto 200 games. The drive features a faster 250Mbps transfer speed, an active cooling, and an external power supply for compatible devices. It is slated to arrive in September.
WD Black D10 Game Drive for Xbox One
Meanwhile, the D10 Game Drive Xbox One edition, weighing nearly 1kg, comes with upto 12TB of built-in storage, making it capable of storing 300 games. It supports transfer data at 250Mbps and external power supply of 7.5W for charging other devices. Buyers also get a three-month free subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The 8TB model costs $200 and the top-tier 12TB costs $300.
