Follow these steps to get refund from Google Play Store
Google Play Store offers a clear refund policy for unsatisfactory or accidental purchases. This policy applies to all apps, games, and microtransactions, as well as e-books, TV shows, audiobooks, and movies. Refunds can be conveniently requested via mobile within specific time frames, depending on the type of purchase. Here's how to request a refund on Google Play Store.
Understanding the refund timeframes
Refunds for apps and in-app purchases can be requested within 48 hours of purchase. For e-books, audiobooks, TV shows, and movies, refunds are available within seven days, provided the content hasn't been downloaded or viewed. Typically, refunds are processed within one working day, but may take up to four business days. The refunded amount is automatically returned to the original payment method.
Requesting a refund on mobile
Refunds can be requested on mobile by signing into the Play Store with the account used for purchase. There are two methods available, one specifically for app refunds and another for all purchases including in-app ones.
How to get a refund for apps?
To request a refund for your app, go to the Play Store page of the app you bought. Tap on "Refund" and then select "Request refund" in the window that appears. Once you confirm the refund, you'll get an email confirming that your request was processed, and the refunded funds will be returned to you.
Refund process for in-app purchases
Access the Play Store and select your profile image located in the top-right corner of the screen. Choose "Payments and subscriptions" from the menu and click on "Budget and history." Find the purchase you want to address and tap on it. Opt for "View" to review the transaction details. Select "Report a problem." Pick a reason for seeking a refund from the options provided. You can also elaborate on your issue in the designated text box. Press "Submit" to proceed.
Steps to follow when request is denied
If a refund request is denied by Google or if the 48-hour window for app refunds has passed, customers should contact the app developer directly. Repurchasing an item after receiving a refund for it does not guarantee an automatic second refund. In such cases, either Google Play support or the app developer should be contacted to request a refund.
Requesting a refund using a PC
Refunds can also be requested via a desktop web browser using Google's digital support assistant or a method similar to the mobile one, particularly useful for frequent computer users.
