Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Hybrid launched at Rs. 96.65 lakh
As its second plug-in hybrid XC90 variant in India, Volvo has launched the XC90 T8 Inscription in India. Priced at Rs. 96.65 lakh (ex-showroom, India), this new variant undercuts the company's first plug-in hybrid, the T8 Excellence (launched in 2016), by over Rs. 30 lakh. The T8 Inscription comes with a petrol+electric powertrain and retains the design language of the T8 Excellence.

In terms of exteriors, Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription is quite identical to T8 Excellence. On the inside, the T8 Inscription gets a 7-seat cabin as compared to T8 Excellence's 4-seat cabin. As standard features, the SUV gets a 4-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, 19-speakers Bowers and Wilkins system, heads-up display, adaptive suspension, Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated front seats.
The Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription can do 0-100km/hr in 5.8-seconds
According to the Swedish Automaker, the Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription can accelerate from 0-100km/hr in just 5.8 seconds. Moreover, the SUV's electric motor is claimed to offer a range of up to 40km on a single charge.
Under the hood
The XC90 T8 Inscription gets a 2.0-litre, direct injection, four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 320bhp of power and 240Nm of torque. When combined with the electric motor, the Volvo SUV generates 398bhp of power and 640Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated an 8-speed automatic transmission, with the petrol engine powering the front wheels and the electric motor powering the rear wheels.
Driving modes and Road safety features
The XC90 T8 Inscription comes with 6 drive modes - Save, Pure, Hybrid, Power, All-Wheel Drive and Off-Road. In terms of road safety features, the SUV gets seven airbags, collision avoidance system, radar-based adaptive cruise control, city braking system among others.
You can charge your T8 Inscription via 110V/240V power outlets
The electric motor on the XC90 T8 Inscription can be charged in about 6-hours or 12-hours via a 240V or 110V power outlet respectively. Interestingly, the car also comes with 'brake energy recuperation' feature that charges the motor every time you apply the brakes. As free-of-cost accessories, Volvo is also offering two fast-charging stations that can fully-charge the motor in about 2.5 hours.
