Vivo Y01 with MediaTek Helio P35 chip goes official
Vivo has launched a new budget-range handset, called the Y01, in Africa. The new Y-series phone will be available in several African countries, but the company is yet to reveal its pricing details. As for the key highlights, it features an IPS LCD display, a MediaTek Helio P35 chip, and a 5,000mAh battery. We have no information regarding the device's India debut yet.
Why does this story matter?
The Y01 is the latest addition to Vivo's portfolio of affordable smartphones. Vivo has been expanding its Y-series, with the Y33s 5G making its debut just last week. The handset is primarily aimed at African markets. However, we can expect it to be a crowd-puller in other developing countries as well due to its attractive design and interesting features such as reverse wired charging.
The handset has an HD+ display with Eye Protection Mode
The Vivo Y01 features a waterdrop notch design with a noticeable bottom bezel and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It has a rectangular camera unit on the rear. The handset bears a 6.51-inch HD+ (720x1600 pixels) Halo FullView IPS LCD display with Eye Protection Mode. Dimensions-wise, it measures 8.28mm in thickness and weighs 178g. It is offered in Sapphire Blue and Elegant Black color options.
It sports a 5MP selfie camera
The Vivo Y01 is equipped with a 13MP/8MP (depending on the region) rear camera. On the front, it has a 5MP (f/2.2) snapper for selfies and video calls.
It boots Funtouch OS 11.1
The Vivo Y01 is fueled by a MediaTek Helio P35 chip, coupled with up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Under the hood, it runs on Android 11 (Go edition)-based Funtouch OS 11.1 and packs a 5,000mAh battery with reverse charging support. For connectivity, the handset offers support for 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and a micro-USB.
