Vivo to release world's first smartphone with 10GB RAM
Only weeks after Vivo unveiled the world's first smartphone with an under-display fingerprint sensor, leaks have surfaced on Weibo, claiming that the company is also going to launch the first-ever phone with 10GB RAM. Apart from the double-digit RAM capacity, Vivo's next flagship -the rumored Xplay 7- is expected to have an in-display fingerprint scanner and 512GB internal-storage among other impressive specs. Here's more.
What are the rumored specs of Xplay 7?
Vivo Xplay 7 is expected to feature a beautiful 4K OLED screen with a bezel-less "full-screen" display design and 92.9% screen-to-body ratio. The leaks suggest the device would be powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 845 SoC paired with 10GB RAM. It may come in two storage variants of 256GB and 512GB. It would pack a massive 4,000mAh battery and run Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.
What about the cameras on the device?
Coming to the optics, the rumored Vivo flagship would house two Sony Exmor RS sensors with a 4x optical zoom capability. Leaked renders of the Vivo Xplay 7 showed a dual camera setup on the rear panel. Some previous reports claimed that the phone would have a 12MP+8MP dual rear camera with Sony IMX401 sensors and a 4x optical zoom.
The smartphone with in-display fingerprint recognition technology
Vivo unveiled the first-ever smartphone with in-display fingerprint sensor at CES 2018 in Las Vegas earlier in January. The Vivo X20 Plus UD would have a Synaptics Clear ID 9500 in-screen fingerprint sensor placed between its OLED display and mainboard. It is rumored to run Android 7 Nougat and sport a 6.43-inch Full-HD+ display. It might be powered by Snapdragon 660 with 4GB RAM.
Xplay 7 might have in-display fingerprint scanner, too
Just like the Vivo X20 Plus UD, Xplay 7 may also feature the Synaptics Clear ID fingerprint recognition technology. Additionally, the rumored Vivo smartphone is also expected to arrive with the company's latest Face Unlock 2.0 facial recognition technology.
Vivo beats others in double-digit RAM capacity race
While smartphone makers have reportedly been trying to bring a device with double-digit RAM capacity, it looks like Vivo has beaten them all in this game. However, there's no word on the availability and pricing yet. A couple of reports claim that the Vivo Xplay 7 could be released in the second quarter of 2018 for around $500 (Rs. 31,800 approximately).
Could be one of the best smartphones ever
If the rumored specs are true, Vivo Xplay 7 will give tough competition to the iPhone X and Samsung's next flagship Galaxy S9. It could be one of the best smartphones this year. Vivo is expected to unveil the device at MWC next month.
