Vivo X80 series will launch in India on May 18
Vivo has confirmed via a teaser on its official page that the all-new flagship X80 series will be launched in India on May 18. The series, consisting of the vanilla X80, X80 Pro Dimensity variant, and X80 Pro Snapdragon version, was introduced in China earlier this week. In India, however, only the Snapdragon-powered devices are likely to arrive.
Why does this story matter?
Vivo is gearing up to enter India's highly competitive flagship segment with the X80 series. What makes the X80 series different from other flagships is the gap between the high-end X80 Pro and the vanilla X80 is not overwhelming to the least. If priced competitively, the X80 series has the potential to thrive in a country like India.
The X80 Pro has a QHD+ AMOLED display
Vivo X80 and X80 Pro feature a centrally-aligned punch-hole cut-out, slim bezels, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. On the rear, they sport a massive camera module. The handsets bear a 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ (1800x2400 pixels) and QHD+ (3200x1440 pixels) resolution, respectively, and have a 120Hz refresh rate. The X80 Pro also has LTPO technology and a 1,000Hz touch sampling rate.
The handsets flaunt a 50MP main camera
Vivo X80 has a triple rear camera setup, comprising a 50MP (f/1.75) primary sensor, a 12MP (f/2.0) ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP (f/1.98) portrait lens. The X80 Pro flaunts a 50MP (f/1.57) main shooter, a 48MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide sensor, a 12MP (f/1.85) portrait lens, and an 8MP (f/3.4) periscope sensor. The handsets pack a 32MP (f/2.45) selfie snapper.
The X80 Pro supports 50W wireless fast-charging
Vivo X80 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset, while the X80 Pro is fueled by either a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Dimensity 9000 processor. They boot Android 12 and pack a 4,500mAh and 4,700mAh battery, respectively, with 80W wired fast-charging. The Pro variant also has 50W wireless fast-charging. The phones offer up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB of storage.
