Vivo S5, with 48MP quad rear cameras, goes official
After several leaks and teasers, Chinese tech giant Vivo has finally launched the camera-centric S5 smartphone in its home country. The key highlights of the phone include its punch-hole design, 48MP quad rear camera module, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and mid-level internals. Notably, the phone will go on sale in China starting November 22. Here's all about it.

Vivo S5 features an edge-to-edge screen with a small display cut-out at the top-right corner and an ultra-slim bottom bezel, offering 91.8% screen-to-body ratio. On the rear, it houses diamond-shaped quad camera module along with an LED flash. The smartphone comes with a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

The quad rear camera module on the Vivo S5 comprises a 48MP (f/1.8) main sensor, 8MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle sensor, 2MP (f/2.4) dedicated macro lens, and another 5MP (f/2.4) lens to capture depth details. The phone also offers a respectable 32MP (f/2.4) front-facing snapper. Moreover, the main camera is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps, while the selfie shooter supports 1080p videos at 30fps.

Vivo S5 draws power from Snapdragon 712 octa-core processor. The company has paired this chipset with 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. The handset runs Android Pie-based FunTouch OS 9.2 and packs a 4,100mAh battery with 22.5W Vivo's Dual-Engine fast charging technology. Lastly, it offers all latest connectivity options including support for dual-SIMs (Nano), dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, Type-C port, and a headphone jack.
What about pricing and availability?
As for pricing, Vivo S5 costs CNY 2,698 (approximately Rs. 27,700) for 8GB/128GB variant and CNY 2,998 (approximately Rs. 30,750) for the variant with 8GB/256GB configuration. Meanwhile, there is no word on the availability of the smartphone outside of China.
