Microsoft has confirmed that certain Windows 10 computers are marred by a USB-C bug, an issue that can slow down the shutdown process on the machines. The problem, as the company explained, is associated with its implementation of Intel's USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI) software in Windows 10 version 1809. Issue causing delaying in shutdown
In a recent FAQ post, Microsoft revealed the issue, noting that it can cause up to a minute's delay in shutdown. However, the company emphasized this would only happen when a device has just been plugged in or disconnected and the UCSI software is working. Meaning, the chances of slow shutdown prevail when devices like docks or chargers are plugged/unplugged during the power transition.
Apart from that, the issue doesn't affect Windows 10
Having said that, it's important to note that the USB-C implementation issue doesn't affect Windows 10 version 1809 in any other way. The USB-C connector of your machine would work just as it does and the performance of the system will also remain unaffected. "The system and the USB Type-C ports should continue to function properly after the next wake or restart," Microsoft said.
No word on fix yet
As of now, Microsoft hasn't given a word on when we can expect a fix for this issue. However, working with this glitch won't be an issue as it isn't as complicated as other problems we have seen on Windows 10 in the past. You just have to make sure that any USB-C device isn't plugged or unplugged at the time of shutdown.
