Twitter's 'X' sign glows up in San Francisco; residents complain
Elon Musk is currently drawing heat from San Francisco after the new logo 'X' shows up on the top of its Market Street headquarters building in a blinding glow. Per reports, this has left many residents and city officials "unhappy," forcing them to complain to San Francisco's Department of Building Inspection. The inspection team is going to investigate the structure.
The company placed an 'X' logo on Friday, last week
According to sources, after Twitter changed its iconic blue bird logo to a brand new 'X' sign recently, the microblogging platform quickly erected one on the roof of its headquarters in San Francisco on July 28. All was well until the logo started to light up intensively, causing problems for visitors and neighbors, especially those staying in high-rise buildings.
The logo glows, pulses, and strobes intrusive lights all around
What further exacerbates the situation is that the 'X' logo also pulses and strobes intrusive lights all around, causing disturbing reflections on nearby buildings. "I thought it was lightning, and I was very confused," said a resident named Patricia Wallinga to CBS.
I'm just astounded at the flagrant lack of consideration: Netizen
As many locals clicked pictures and recorded videos of the giant 'X' logo, they took to social media to express their opinions, which were mostly disapproving. "I would be LIVID. Imagine this X sign right across from your bedroom," tweeted @itsmefrenchy123. "I'm just astounded at the flagrant lack of consideration for anyone ever," wrote another netizen @DollyMarlowe.
Oh, our eyes!
Attorney says residents can approve/reject such a development
In an interaction with CBS, Attorney George Wolf said that the residents staying near the 'X' building are entitled to a chance to either accept or reject such a development. He also said, "It's very, very reckless [for Musk] to do things this way. It just sounds like it's just his normal means of doing business. Break things and try and fix them later."
Inspection team says it might be a violation of rules
The folks at San Francisco's building inspection department said that the glowing 'X' logo on the building might be a violation of the rules. In a report, they stated the company officials denied them access to the roof - not once but twice - when they were carrying out an inspection. One of the officials also stated the installation was temporary.
Interestingly, the sign didn't light up on Sunday night!
'Blaze Your Glory': Musk tweets X's new tagline
At 11:00 am on July 31, Musk took to his X account and tweeted, "Blaze Your Glory," leaving many confused if this has anything to do with the overly lit-up logo sign in San Francisco. However, it is the new tagline of X, confirmed The Spectator Index. The latest tagline now also appears on both IOS and Android app stores.
