Twitter finally addresses the 'annoying' problem of its video section
With a minor update, Twitter has fixed one of the most annoying problems in the video section of its app - the ability to reply. Users watching videos on Twitter had to tap out and go back to tweet replies or start a conversation. But now, the latest update ensures that viewers can tweet their responses while watching the video.
Twitter's update announcement
The social media giant announced the minor, albeit crucial, update with a tweet accepting how annoying the problem was. "It's SO annoying when you're watching a video full size but have to tap out to reply," it stated. "Oh wait, we fixed that." They also posted an animation showcasing how the in-video reply option could be used.
Feature improvements on Twitter
The latest update comes just a few days after Twitter announced it will be giving users an option to switch between ranked or chronological timelines. Since 2016, the company used algorithms to 'show best tweets first', but with this flexibility, users can uncheck that option and see tweets from people they follow, with the latest ones being at the top.
Efforts to increase user base, tackle competition
Twitter has been trying out new and intriguing features to increase its user base and take on social media services offering fancier ways to stay updated and connected - like Facebook, Snapchat, and Reddit. As part of the effort, the 11-year-old service doubled the character count for tweets, revamped some visual elements, introduced 'In case you missed it' feature, among many other changes.
