Twitter launches Bookmarks feature to privately save tweets
What's the story
Twitter has now globally launched its Bookmarks feature, which provides users a way to save the tweets they like or might want to revisit.
These are completely private and only a user can see his or her bookmarked tweets.
The feature has been rolled-out across Android, iOS, Twitter Lite, and the Twitter website. Here is more on it.
Context
Earlier users liked or DM'd a tweet to save it
So far, users have had to like tweets they wanted to save or revisit, even if they don't particularly 'like' its content.
Also directly engaging with a tweet alerts the original poster and anyone else who interacts with it. Further, the list of Favorite tweets is publicly accessible to everyone on Twitter.
Other workarounds included DM'ing tweets to one's own self.
Details
Twitter gets all sharing options at one place
To bookmark a tweet, users have to click the share icon beneath it.
The new icon now places all the sharing options at one place. These include tweeting via direct message, sharing a tweet outside of Twitter, and bookmarking it.
To access the Bookmarks list, users have to tap their Profile icon and go to Twitter's main slide-out menu.
Information
#SaveForLater feature has been topmost user request
According to Twitter, Bookmarks or some sort of a "save it later" feature has been the topmost user request. People want to go back to a news item or a long-form article without having to directly and publicly engage with it.

The feature is being tested since last year
For Hack Week @Twitter we started developing #SaveForLater. Here’s the early prototype that we put together in a week, which is likely to change. pic.twitter.com/c5LekvVF3l
