Truecaller will now automatically block spam calls on your iPhone
Truecaller has introduced its Auto-Block Spam feature for iPhone users, as part of the latest iOS 18 update. This new addition aims to enhance user experience, by automatically blocking unwanted calls from scammers and telemarketers. Previously exclusive to Android devices, the feature ensures that blocked calls do not ring but are labeled as "Scammer" or "Fraud" in the call log.
Truecaller leverages extensive database to block spam calls
Truecaller utilizes its comprehensive caller ID database and user-contributed data, to compile a list of frequent spammers. This strategy is designed to block calls from numbers that regularly make unsolicited calls. However, this advanced feature will only be accessible to iOS users who have subscribed to Truecaller Premium. The premium subscription is offered at ₹99 per month or ₹899 annually in India, with a family plan option priced at ₹249 per month or ₹1,490 annually.
How to activate the feature?
To activate the Auto-Block feature, users must upgrade to Truecaller Premium and ensure they are using iOS 18. The feature can be enabled by navigating to the Protect tab on the app, and toggling on Auto-Block. This update marks a significant improvement in Truecaller's functionality for iPhone users, who earlier could only search for mobile numbers and use a Siri shortcut for caller identification.
Future plans for iPhone users
Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi has hinted at the introduction of a live Caller ID feature for iPhone in the future. In a recent post on X, he expressed optimism that people will soon acknowledge Truecaller's improved functionality on iPhones.
