Mozilla activates Tracking Protection on Firefox for iOS by default
At a time when conversation around online privacy has heightened, Mozilla has updated its Firefox browser on iOS to turn on the Tracking Protection feature by default. The feature disables websites from tracking down your digital activity and capturing your personal information. It will automatically remain active whenever you now use the Firefox browser on iPhone or iPad, unless you explicitly turn it off.
It will work on both, regular and private browsing
Mozilla launched Tracking Protection on the Firefox browser for iOS in September last year, but it was an opt-in functionality buried in the Settings menu. Now it will be on by default while browsing in both Regular and Private modes. Private browsing adds another layer of privacy to your online activity and includes automatic ad and content blocking. It also doesn't save browsing history.
Also makes your browser faster, more efficient
With Tracking Protection switched on by default, the Firefox browser will also run faster. Websites won't be bogged down with tracking scripts and will load quickly. As a result, better-performing browsers will help save mobile data and battery.
Other Firefox updates on iPad
Mozilla has also announced some other updates to Firefox on iPad. Users can now drag and drop tabs to re-order them. They can also drag and drop tabs directly into iMessage, Twitter or anywhere else without having to copy-paste the link of the webpage. The Firefox browser on iPad has also added support for more keyboard shortcuts for enhanced productivity.
