More and more OEMs are readying their 5G smartphones as the next-generation of wireless connectivity is set to impress all and sundry. So far, we have seen Samsung's Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy Fold, Huawei's Mate X, and LG V50 ThinQ coming with 5G support. And in the coming months, we'll see plenty more. So, here's our list of some of the best 5G smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy Fold: Priced at around Rs. 1,40,000
Samsung's first-ever foldable phone also supports the 5G network. It features a 4.58-inch HD+ external screen, a 7.3-inch QHD+ Infinity Flex display, and a total of six cameras. The Fold is powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. Under the hood, it has a battery capacity of 4,380mAh and runs Android Pie-based One UI.
Samsung Galaxy S10 5G: Price to be announced
Alongside the S10 flagships, Samsung has also launched the S10 5G variant. This top-end model features a 6.7-inch QHD+ display, 10MP+8MP dual front cameras and a quad rear-camera setup with 12MP+12MP+16MP 3D ToF sensors. It is powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with 8GB RAM, 256GB of non-expandable storage, and 5G wireless modem. Further, it packs a 4,500mAh battery and runs One UI.
Huawei Mate X: Priced at around Rs. 1,82,000
Huawei's Mate X features an 8-inch OLED display which folds into a 6.6-inch front display and a 6.38-inch rear display. In terms of optics, it has a 40MP wide-angle lens, 16MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and an 8MP telephoto camera. The phone is backed by Kirin 980 processor, Balong 5000 chip, 8GB of RAM, 512GB of internal storage, and 4,500mAh battery with 55W fast charging support.
LG V50 ThinQ: Price to be announced
V50 ThinQ is LG's practical answer to foldable phones. It features a 6.4-inch QHD+ main display and a 6.2-inch full-HD+ detachable secondary screen. The phone also offers a 12MP+12MP+16MP triple rear-camera setup and an 8MP+5MP dual front-camera. Under the hood, it comes with Snapdragon 855 processor, Snapdragon X50 modem for 5G connectivity, 6GB RAM, 128GB of storage (expandable upto 2TB) and a 4,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: Price starts at around Rs. 48,300
At the recently concluded MWC, Xiaomi has launched the Mi Mix 3 5G variant with a 6.4-inch full-HD+ OLED display and 93.4% screen-to-body ratio. In the camera department, the phone offers 12MP+12MP dual rear-cameras and 24MP+2MP dual front-cameras. Under the hood, Mi Mix 3 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, Snapdragon X50 5G modem, upto 8GB RAM, upto 256GB of storage, and 3,800mAh battery.
OnePlus 5G smartphone: Expected to launch in mid 2019
While very little is known about OnePlus's upcoming 5G flagship, we know that it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 along with the Qualcomm X50 modem to enable 5G connectivity. The company has already partnered with EE network to launch this 5G-ready flagship in the UK by mid-2019, possibly around May. Reportedly, the phone will cost $200-300 more than usual OnePlus flagships.
OPPO also announced its first 5G phone at MWC 2019
At the MWC 2019, OPPO has announced its 5G smartphone. And while the company has not revealed intricate details, the Chinese tech giant has confirmed that the phone will come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 chipset and X50 modem to deliver 5G speed.
