Gen-Z solo travelers: Tinder's new guide can maximize your adventure
Tinder, the popular dating platform, has launched a unique travel guide in collaboration with The Hosteller, a self-operated backpacker hostel chain. The guide, titled "Traveler's Guide to Tinder Passport," is specifically designed for Gen Z globetrotters. It aims to assist them in forging global connections during their travels. This initiative comes as a response to the increasing interest in travel among young adults on Tinder.
Travel: A shared interest among young adults
A recent survey conducted by Tinder revealed that half of the Indian users aged between 18 and 25 find a mutual passion for travel more appealing in a potential match. The term "solo travel" has seen a significant increase in usage on Tinder India profiles, indicating a growing trend among young adults. The company noted that bios expressing love for exploration and solo journeys are becoming increasingly popular.
Traveler's Guide is a comprehensive resource for solo travelers
The "Traveler's Guide to Tinder Passport" provides tips on profile creation, initiating conversations, and ensuring safety while traveling. Papri Dev, Tinder's VP of APAC Communications, highlighted the potential of the Tinder Passport feature. She stated that whether users are seeking new friends or local advice, this guide can enhance their travel experience.
Passport mode: A tool for pre-travel connections
The updated Passport Mode now appears directly on user profiles, allowing them to indicate their intention to connect with others before reaching their destination. Users can activate it, select a city, and start interacting with locals or other travelers before their trip. Passport Mode is a premium feature available with Tinder Plus, Tinder Gold, and Tinder Platinum subscriptions.
The Hosteller's vision aligns with Tinder's initiative
Pranav Dangi, Founder and CEO of The Hosteller, acknowledged the rising trend of solo travel among Gen Z and millennials. He stated that their hostels aim to promote cultural connections and memorable experiences for travelers. Dangi expressed his support for the partnership with Tinder, stating that it aligns with their goal of providing solo travelers a resource to safely explore India's top backpacking destinations.
