Tinder is at the very top of Apple App Store
Love is a right swipe away. Kidding! But then again it just might be because a lot of people are downloading Tinder now. This propelled it to the number 1 spot in Apple App Store's top grossing category for the very first time. However, this recent rise to fame might also have something to do with the global launch of Tinder Gold. Here's more.
Building on the love industry
Tinder has been tinkering with monetization for some time now. Its first foray was the launch of Tinder Plus in 2015, where it allowed users to "Rewind" accidental left swipes and gave them the "Passport" feature, enabling users to search outside their geographical location. Since then, it has been adding new revenue models and rolling out paid features like Super Like and Tinder Boost.
I Super Like you, honestly
What's Super like? Well, it's something you can use to notify a person that you're into him/her even before they stumble upon you via swiping right. It marks your profile with a big blue star. There's also Tinder Boost, with which you get to skip the queue altogether and be right at the front of other users' feeds when they're browsing through the app.
This might be the reason
This recent success of Tinder, perhaps, came due to the global launch of Tinder Gold. This premium paid feature lets users see who liked them without the entire swipe routine. During last few months it was in beta testing mode, but now, it's been officially launched worldwide. Voila! Now Tinder is leading the top grossing category list in App Store. Love, huh?
