Motorola is working on 48MP quad camera smartphone, suggest renders
With more cameras becoming a trend on modern-day smartphones, Lenovo-owned Motorola is stepping up its game with a new quad camera device. This unnamed phone, expected to be the first of a brand new series, has been leaked in full glory by @OnLeaks. It will feature a novel 48MP quad-camera setup, waterdrop notched display and high-end internals. Here's everything we know.
A waterdrop notched screen and novel camera design
As per the renders, the phone will feature a waterdrop notched display with a slim bottom chin that will bear the Motorola branding. On the back, an array of four camera sensors, arranged in a square, are housed within a large rectangular bump. Moreover, the lack of a physical fingerprint scanner suggests that the phone will come with an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
What else do we know about the phone?
Talking of other design parameters, the renders also reveal a metal frame with a curved glass that has some sort of brushed metallic finish. On the right side of the frame, there is a power/sleep button and volume keys while the bottom edge contains a USB Type-C port and headphone jack. Up top, there's a speaker grille, microphone, and SIM-card try.
Everything we know about the quad camera setup
The renders carry a "48MP" branding on the left side of the camera hub. Hence, we can deduce that the primary camera will be a 48MP sensor which we've seen on several smartphones including the Motorola One Vision. Moreover, while details about the remaining sensors remain unknown for now, we can expect them to be a wide-angle sensor, telephoto sensor, and a Time-of-Flight sensor.
Motorola could be readying a lower-cost, premium smartphone line-up
Details about the specifications and naming of this phone remain unclear as of now. However, @OnLeaks says it "will be the 1st of a brand new series" that may be positioned between Moto G and Moto Z. Hence, Motorola could be readying a lower cost premium line-up to take on the likes of Nokia 9 PureView, OnePlus 7, and high-end Galaxy A smartphones.
