Now, a "smart" mirror can guide your home workout sessions

    What's the story

Working out at home can be a real mess, especially for those who don't have enough experience in physical training.

You can't figure out the right posture and end up doing something completely different from what was supposed to be done.

Now, to tackle this problem, a company is offering a physical trainer - through a full-length mirror.

    Sounds crazy? It gets crazier.

    Device

What exactly is this smart mirror?

Smart devices have evolved from simple phones and speakers to a lot more.

We recently saw connected jackets which can take selfies, and now, a US-based company called Mirror is offering a 'smart mirror'.

It looks just like any full-length mirror you may have at home but is actually smart enough to guide your fitness routine and help you workout (correctly) at home.

    Capabilities

    What this mirror can do?

Along with your reflection, the smart mirror shows on-demand workout classes covering categories ranging from boxing and cardio to yoga.

You just have to follow the activities appearing in the mirror (along with audio instructions) and perform them in the exact same way.

It enables working out easily at home and also highlights your heartbeats per minute and calories burned at the same time.

    Live training

Plus, you can also engage in live training

In addition to on-demand classes, Mirror also offers live training sessions, where a personal trainer appears in the mirror and performs along with you, guiding your postures and the entire workout.

This one-on-one session is conducted with the help of a camera integrated with the mirror, but worry not, there's a cap to cover the lens when it's not in use.

    Companion app

The whole thing works with a companion app

Just like all connected devices, the smart mirror works with a companion app that connects via Bluetooth.

It also comes bundled with a bunch of added devices such as fitness bands and heart-rate monitors to collect your workout vitals (like calories) and display them in the mirror.

This data helps both the trainer and trainee modify their workout accordingly.

    Pricing

    How much this mirror costs?

As of now, the smart mirror costs about $1,500 before tax and installation charges.

But, that's just the price of the device; you'd have pay additional fees for engaging in the on-demand and live sessions.

The on-demand session costs $39/month for up to six people, while a single private one-on-one class would cost you $40. Also, it will have to be booked in advance.
