Xiaomi releases MIUI 10 Global Beta 8.7.5 for these smartphones
Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.7.5 for the first batch of devices. Currently, this Global Beta is being released for a total of eight smartphones from the top-tier, mid-range and budget segment. This firmware build is tailored for the global audience and comes with Google Play services integration. Here's more on this update.
The eight eligible devices that will receive the update
The list of eligible devices that will receive the MIUI 10 Global ROM update includes Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2S, Redmi S2 aka Redmi Y2 (in India) and Redmi Note 5 Pro/Redmi Note 5. The other four devices are Xiaomi Mi 6, Mi 5, Mi Note 2 and Mi Mix. Notably, more Xiaomi devices will receive the update in the coming days.
Here's how to download and install the Global ROM update
Users with devices already running MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM can manually check for the latest MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM under 'System Updates' in the 'Settings' menu or via the Updater app. For devices running MIUI 7,8 or 9 stable versions can update directly via fastboot with an unlocked bootloader. But, make sure you back up all your data.
So what's new in this latest Global ROM build?
The MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM 8.7.5 brings LDAC functionality for Bluetooth on supported devices. This is part of an Android Oreo update which is now making way into MIUI 10. Sony's proprietary, LDAC technology improves the quality of audio streamed over Bluetooth but requires compatible headphones to experience the quality.

MIUI 10, Xiaomi's biggest software update till date, brings several design changes, improvement in speed and performance and an AI-powered Portrait feature for the native camera app. This version also introduces full-screen display gestures and includes an updated 'Recents' menu that leverages the entire screen area and a revamped Notifications panel. The MIUI 10 also adds new system apps such as Weather and Calendar.
