Sony to release Android Pie update for these Xperia smartphones
Google's latest mobile Operating System, the Android Pie, has been officially launched. As one of the first few OEMs to bring the latest Android OS to its devices, Sony has announced the first list of its smartphones. For now, the Android Pie update will be rolled out to 9 Sony Xperia smartphones, starting this November. Here's the list of all those phones.
These nine Xperia phones will get Android Pie update
Starting November, the Android Pie OS will be first released on the premium-range including the Sony Xperia XZ2, Xperia XZ2 Premium, Xperia XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ1, Xperia XZ1 Compact and Xperia XZ Premium. In the second release, expected by early 2019, Sony's mid-range devices including the Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Plus, and Xperia XA2 Ultra will get the Android Pie OS.
Earlier, Motorola confirmed its Android Pie update schedule
Lenovo-owned Motorola has also recently announced its Android Pie update schedule. The company has said that it will be releasing the latest Android software update to eight of its smartphones starting this Fall. These smartphones are the Moto Z3, Moto Z3 Play, Moto Z2 Force Edition, Moto Z2 Play, Moto X4, Moto G6, Moto G6 Play, Moto G6 Plus.
Other OEMs have also announced their Android Pie update plans
Notably, HTC has said that four of its smartphones will get Android Pie update. However, the company has not specified its release schedule. Moreover, Vivo has confirmed that Vivo X21 and the company's other premium smartphones will get the update in Q4 2018. Lastly, Xiaomi is also expected to soon release its Android Pie-based MIUI 10 for some of its flagships including Mi Mix 2S.
