Sony is releasing Android Pie update for these Xperia smartphones
Sony has started to roll out the newest iteration of its Android UI for three of its smartphones. According to reports, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Sony Xperia XZ1, and Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact are receiving the Android Pie-based update. This update will introduce a few new features including an improved camera app and Android security patch for October. Here's more.

Earlier, Sony announced that that Android Pie update will be rolled out to nine Sony Xperia smartphones. Last month, Sony rolled out the update for its Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact smartphones. Moreover, the company has also confirmed that its mid-range devices including the Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Plus, and Xperia XA2 Ultra will get the update early next year.
What's new in this update?
This Android Pie-update, with the build number 47.2.A.0.306, brings a few improvements and optimization but without the gesture navigation. Reportedly, Sony might introduce Android Pie's gesture-based navigation in a future update. However, what this update does bring is a revamped camera app interface, support for 1080p slow-motion video recording at 960fps, and HDR enhancements.

The Xperia XZ Premium sports a 5.5-inch 4K (2160x3840 pixels) HDR Triluminos LCD display, a 19MP (f/2.2) Motion Eye rear camera, and a 13MP (f/2.0) selfie snapper. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a 3,230mAh battery.

The Xperia XZ1 sports a 5.2-inch full-HD display, a 19MP rear camera, and a 13MP front camera. It runs on a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and 2,700mAh battery. Further, Xperia XZ1 Compact features a 4.6-inch HD display, a 19MP rear camera, and a 13MP selfie snapper. It is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, and 2,700mAh battery.
