Xiaomi to launch its Redmi 6-series smartphones on September 5
What's the story
As the successor to the popular Redmi 5-series, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Redmi 6-series smartphones in India.
The company has scheduled a launch event on September 5 where it is expected to unveil the Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro smartphones.
Notably, Xiaomi had introduced these phones in China back in June this year.

The Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 sport traditional displays with prominent edges on all sides whereas the Redmi 6 pro gets a notched display.
On the back, the Redmi 6 sports a horizontally-positioned single rear camera whereas the Redmi 6A gets a similarly positioned dual rear camera setup.
The Redmi 6 Pro, on the other hand, sports a vertically-stacked dual rear-camera setup.

Redmi 6 offers a 12MP+5MP dual rear-camera setup and 5MP selfie snapper.

The Redmi 6 Pro features a 5.84-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) notched display and runs MIUI 9, like other Redmi 6 variants.
The phone runs on a Snapdragon 625 processor, paired with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB storage (expandable up to 256GB).
It comes with 12MP+5MP rear camera setup, a 5MP front camera, and packs a 4,000mAh battery.
Notably, all the three phones support dual-SIM cards.

The Redmi 6-series could start at Rs. 6,000 in India
The Redmi 6A costs CNY 599 (Rs. 6,300) for the 2GB RAM/16GB storage configuration.
The Redmi 6 costs CNY 799 (Rs. 8,400) for the 3GB/32GB variant while its 4GB/64GB model is priced at CNY 999 (Rs. 10,500).
The Redmi 6 Pro costs CNY 999 (Rs. 10,400) for 3GB/32GB model, CNY 1,199 (Rs. 12,500) for 4GB/32GB variant, and CNY 1,299 (Rs. 13,600) for 4GB/64GB variant.
