Apple's new iOS 13 will not work on these iPhones
Apple has unveiled its latest operating system for the iPhones - the iOS 13. The platform comes with a dedicated dark mode and some really interesting features, but here's the thing: it won't be working on all iPhones. The Cupertino giant has ditched support for some iPhones, mainly the ones that came a few years ago. Let's take a look at the list.
iPhones that will get iOS 13
When Apple released iOS 12, it offered support for all iPhones that ran iOS 11. However, the latest feature upgrade will be available only on the devices that came after 2014. Now, this includes the iPhone Xs family, iPhone Xr, iPhone X, iPhone 8 family, iPhone 7 family, iPhone 6S family, iPhone SE, and all-new iPod Touch (seventh generation).
These iPhones will fall on the chopping block
Having said that, all older and dated iPhones will not get the iOS 13 update. This includes Apple's best-selling iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, iPhone 5S, and the sixth generation of iPod Touch. To note, iPhones that came before these devices, like iPhone 5, didn't get iOS 12 and won't get the new OS either.
iPadOS will come nearly on all iPads
This time, instead of pushing iOS on iPad, Apple is bringing iPadOS - a platform custom-built for its tablets. This operating system will be coming on all iPad Pro variants (12.9-inch, 11-inch, 10.5-inch, 9.7-inch models), the sixth and fifth generation of iPad, the fifth generation of iPad Mini, iPad Mini 4, iPad Air (third generation), and the iPad Air 2.
Only two iPads will lose support
According to Apple's list, only the original iPad Air and the iPad Mini 2 won't be getting the new iPadOS, which boasts of deeper multi-tasking functions and the ability to run multiple apps at the same time.
Finally, WatchOS 6 will work on all Apple Watches
Apple is keeping support for all its Watches, including Watch Series 1, 2, 3, and 4. However, the company has emphasized that the new OS requires iPhones 6s or newer with iOS 13, and that some WatchOS features might not work on older Watch models. The platform will be released later this year along with the new iOS and iPadOS.
