Google Pixel 3 is abruptly erasing text messages
What's the story
Google's latest flagships have been in headlines, for quite some time. Unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons.
So far, the Pixel 3 phones have had overheating issues, problems in saving photos and the bizarre addition of another notch.
And, now some users have reported that text messages are abruptly getting erased from the Messages app.
Here's all about this issue.
The problem
Issue could be with November security update or Messages app
According to some Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL users, their text messages have "disappeared" (technically, deleted) without warning.
The latest November Android security update "could be causing text SMS messages to disappear" for some users, reports Android Police.
However, some affected users said that their messages got deleted sometime before the update, suggesting the problem could be associated with the recent Android Messages app.

Google has acknowledged the issue, to soon release a fix
"We recently discovered a bug affecting SMS/MMS on a small number of Pixel 3s and are rolling out a fix soon," said a Google spokesperson.
Unofficial fix
Here's a tip you can try to recover lost messages
Some of the affected users have managed to recover lost messages by "reverting to an older version of the Messages app", reports 9to5Google.
In case you are also affected by the problem, you can try the same.
Go to Settings->Apps & Notifications->Messages. Now, go to App Info page, click the menu button at the top-right corner, and select Uninstall updates.
Another plague
Separately, some Pixel 3 users also reported display flickering
Some Pixel 3 users have also reported about display flickering issue wherein a part of the screen suddenly lights up while rest of the area remains dark or dimly lit.
The affected users speculate that this problem could be tied to a malfunctioning Ambient light sensor.
While Google hasn't acknowledged this problem, getting the affected Pixel 3 unit replaced could be a solution.
Heated up
Recently, several users also reported an overheating issue
Recently, several Pixel 3 users had raised an issue wherein their phones are getting overheated while charging, causing the devices to shut down.
Seemingly, the problem is happening when the phone is being used for some action (like playing games or video calls) while simultaneously charging it.
The problem occurs regardless of the charging method (Pixel Stand, or USB-C or even car charger).
