#SmartphonesFaceoff: OnePlus 6 vs Honor 10
It's that time of the year again. All the flagships have been unveiled - iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9, Huawei P20 Pro, Nokia 8 Sirocco. And also, out in the open, are all the flagship killers. Today, in this battle of the heavyweights - OnePlus 6 vs Honor 10 - we help you pick wisely, the best flagship killer of 2018. Here's our one-on-one.
Comparing Honor 10 and OnePlus 6 variants under Rs. 35,000
Honor 10 comes in single 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant in India and costs Rs. 32,999. However, the OnePlus 6 is available in several pairings but we are here comparing the 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant which costs Rs. 34,999 in India.
At a glance
Right off the bat, both phones look pretty similar when seen front-on. However, on the back, Honor 10 comes with an 'industry-first' glass panel which changes colors depending on the viewing angle. The OnePlus 6 keeps it simple and offers a glass back in matte or glossy finish and is water-resistant - something the Honor 10 is not. OnePlus 6 has a clear advantage.
All about the screen
There is no difference in the screen resolution as both the phones offer a full-HD+ (2280x1080 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. However, the only noticeable difference is in the screen size and display quality. OnePlus 6 comes with a bigger 6.2-inch AMOLED display while the Honor 10 sports a 5.8-inch LCD display. Again, OnePlus 6 wins with an overall better display.
Good camera vs Smart Camera
OnePlus 6 offers a 16-MP, f/1.7 Sony IMX519 sensor and 20-MP f/1.7 Sony IMX376K sensor, with both cameras getting OIS, EIS, and support for 480fps slow-mo recording at 720p. Honor 10 gets a 24-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensor, both paired with an f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, AI photography capabilities, 3D Portrait Lighting and HDR. OnePlus 6 wins here, given better optics and its super slo-mo feature.
For the love of Selfies
On the OnePlus 6, the front camera gets a 16-megapixel Sony IMX371 sensor that features Slow Motion video recording and Portrait Mode. However, some of these features will be introduced via a software update soon. The Honor 10 bears a 24-megapixel sensor with support for AI-based features including 3D Portrait Lighting mode. With AI integration and bigger sensor, Honor 10 wins the selfie race.
All the important stuff
OnePlus 6 is powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor and will be offered in 6GB RAM and 64GB storage (the variant we are comparing). On the other side, Honor 10 gets Huawei's custom Kirin 970 processor, coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. While both the processors are top-end, cheaper price point and more storage than OnePlus 6, are decisive factors favoring Honor 1O.
Lifeblood of your smartphone
While both the phones get standard onboard sensors, the difference lies in fingerprint sensor. OnePlus 6 gets rear-mounted sensor while Honor 10 gets an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that can work with wet fingers also. In terms of software, OnePlus runs stock Android-like OxygenOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo and Honor 10 runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.1 which is more cluttered and bloated.
Staying connected
Connectivity options on both the phones include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/c, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C. In terms of battery performance, Honor 10 houses a 3,400mAh battery and can charge up to 50% in 25 minutes. OnePlus 6, which packs a 3,300mAh battery, offers "a day's power in half an hour" via Dash Charge. OnePlus 6, again, has an edge.
How things stack up!
While OnePlus 6 costs Rs. 2,000 more than Honor 10, offers lesser storage and loses the selfie race, it wins on several other aspects. With its AMOLED display, near stock Android UI and the promise to receive Android P update, dash charging prowess and water-resistant feature, it's hard to beat this ultimate flagship killer. It is OnePlus 6 all the way.
