Watch: Police robot overpowers suspect in dramatic take down
What's the story
A dramatic standoff in Texas ended when a police robot outsmarted a suspect who tried to disable it.
The incident took place at a Days Inn motel in Lubbock, where 39-year-old Felix Delarosa had barricaded himself after firing gunshots at law enforcement officers.
The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office deployed their remote-controlled device to subdue Delarosa with tear gas.
Countermeasures
Suspect's failed attempts to disable police robot
In an attempt to neutralize the robot, Delarosa fired a shot at it and threw bedding over it. His intention was to prevent the tear gas from filling his room.
However, the high-tech device managed to avoid the bullet and remove the sheet.
In a surprising turn of events, it then ran over Delarosa, effectively ending his resistance.

The robot successfully immobilized Delarosa by pinning him to the ground outside his motel room. This action prevented him from moving further and led to his eventual surrender.
The standoff had lasted for several hours, during which a SWAT team was deployed and negotiators attempted to communicate with the suspect.
Following his surrender, Delarosa was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon after receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
