Elon Musk's Tesla apparently wants its own music streaming service
Let's pick the odd one out - Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, Tesla, SoundCloud and Pandora. Did you notice the anomaly yet? No prizes for guessing that the anomaly is Tesla. However, in near future, that might not be the case because rumors suggest that Tesla is on its way to create its own music streaming service, out of all things. Here's all about it.
Negotiations are already going on
According to Recode, Tesla has initiated dialogues with major music labels to discuss the possibility of licensing a proprietary music service that can be packed in its futuristic dashboard to make things more alluring for customers. But the question is, why create a separate service and not go the usual way of integrating existing services; which it already does for models sold outside US.
Based on a whim, is it?
However, it's still not clear how Tesla wants to go about the entire thing, although CEO Elon Musk did hint that Tesla was mulling on veering towards music products in the recent Tesla shareholder meeting. He put it in a rather weird way. Musk had said, it must be done because it's "very hard to find good playlists or good matching algorithms" for songs.
Maybe, it's all part of the plan
The big money is on the possibility that it will start with being free and would then get itself bundled with Tesla vehicle ownership; but knowing it's Elon Musk, nothing is certain. In the big picture it does make sense because as time progresses, Tesla would have to lower vehicle prices to keep up with rising competition and rake revenue from added services.
