Stolen data of Tata Technologies leaked by ransomware group
What's the story
Tata Technologies, a subsidiary of Tata Group, has become the latest victim of a data leak by the ransomware gang Hunters International.
The incident comes just over a month after the Indian company confirmed a ransomware attack that resulted in the suspension of some of its services.
The information was published on a dark web leak site run by the hackers.
Data leak
Personal and confidential data exposed
The leaked data contains personal information of current and former Tata Technologies employees.
It also features sensitive materials like purchase orders and contracts with clients in India and the US.
Hunters International claims to have stolen over 730,000 documents from Tata Technologies, including Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and PDF files. The total size of the stolen data is said to be around 1.4TB.
Company statement
Tata Technologies's response to the attack
In January, Tata Technologies had notified stock exchanges here about a ransomware attack affecting "a few of" its IT assets.
Back then, the company had assured that its client services were fully functional and unaffected throughout the incident.
It is still unclear if the data leaked by Hunters International is connected to this previously disclosed ransomware attack.
