iPhone lost in river found after 15 months. Still works!
We have heard some crazy stories about iPhones and the latest one is as exciting as the last one where an iPhone survived a shark bite. In a dramatic turn of events, a YouTuber found an iPhone at the bottom of a river. The surprise, however, came later when he found that the phone still worked despite being submerged for nearly 15 months.
iPhone found in a plastic case at a river bed
YouTuber Nuggetnoggin (Michael Bennett) was diving for treasures in the Edisto river in South Carolina when he came across something unusual: an iPhone. The smartphone was inside a protective water sleeve that was soiled in dirt and grim, suggesting it had been there for quite a while. But the surprise came later when he plugged in the phone and found that it worked.
The YouTuber reached out to the owner of the phone
While the iPhone did turn on, Michael couldn't unlock it to find the owner's number. However, he was able to put the SIM into a different phone to find the saved contacts. And after making a few calls, he finally reached Erica Bennett, the owner.
Erica had lost her iPhone in June 2018
After getting in touch with Erica, Michael was able to return the iPhone to its rightful owner and learnt the story of how the iPhone ended up in the river bed. As per Erica, she lost the phone during a family trip on June 19, 2018. She believed that her phone was lost forever only to find herself stunned with Michael's call.
Erica's emotional connect with her iPhone
Erica was thrilled to reunite with her old phone back as it contained messages and pictures of her late father. "Hey I'm playing phone tag with you, so I just figured I just text you, how are you feeling?' And I think he had called me after that. I'm pretty sure it was Father's Day," Erica told the press recalling her father's last words.
