#Review: Stellar Data Recovery, handy tool for recovering lost files
The situation of accidental data loss is rare but can easily cost you years' worth of work or personal information. It can occur on a system that lacks a backup or remains publicly accessible. Now, if you are dealing with something similar, there's an easy way to get back lost data, using a recovery tool named Stellar Data Recovery. Here's how it works.
Data losses can occur due to a range of factors
Today, no one wants to delete their data with their own hands, but mistakes can happen; even third parties can delete files accidentally. The data can also be corrupted by Windows errors, bad sectors in hard disk or problems during formatting. The reasons for unexpected loss are practically unlimited, but Stellar Recovery can certainly come handy in reducing the damage.
How Stellar Data Recovery works
When a file is deleted, it is not permanently removed; the computer only removes its address and the data remains at the same location on the hard disk - unless that space is re-written with other data. Stellar Data Recovery takes advantage of this and conducts a thorough scan to recover lost files from PC HDD, SSD, flash drive, microSD, and external storage.
Easy interface to select files that need to be recovered
We tried the professional version of Stellar Data Recovery and found it to be relatively easy to use. The software launches with two options, one for 'Data Recovery' and the other to 'Monitor Driver'. Selecting the first redirects you to a page where you can easily find what kind of data you need to recover - documents, folders, emails, photos, audio, videos, or everything.
Next, you have to select the scan location
After picking file category, the software will prompt you to select the location from where you want to recover. As part of this step, you will have to pick the hard drive from where the files were deleted. You can also turn the 'Deep Scan' toggle on to conduct a super-thorough scan of the drive and recover each and every bit of lost data.
Go for deep scan after regular scan
Users are advised to go for a deep scan only after trying the regular scan. The option takes a lot of time to conduct a comprehensive scan, something that is particularly useful if the hard drive is corrupted.
Then, the software begins the scan
After selecting the target location, you have to hit the 'Scan' button to begin the analysis. Here, the software will look for the file type in question at the selected location and present the results; it should only take a minute to throw the results. Notably, all data in the results would be checked, but you can uncheck it to recover what you want.
Finally, you can recover your data
Once you find the file or files you wanted, select it and hit the 'Recover' button at the bottom right corner. Here, you will be prompted to select the recovery location or the place where the file would be saved. Just pick the destination folder - desktop or anything - and click on the 'Start Saving' button to fetch and recover the file.
Stellar is ideal for non technical users
Though you may have to pay Rs. 5,999 for full features of Stellar Data Recovery, the software is undoubtedly an absolute value-for-money product. The UI of the tool and accompanying options are so simple that anyone, even a person with no technical knowledge whatsoever, can use it to recover lost data. Not to mention, the recovering capabilities are pretty fast and accurate.
