You can now get AI-made Spotify playlists in US, Canada
Spotify has extended its artificial intelligence (AI) feature, that generates personalized playlists based on user-provided text descriptions. The service, initially launched in the UK and Australia, is now accessible to Premium Spotify subscribers in the US, Ireland, Canada, and New Zealand. This expansion marks a significant step for the music streaming giant, in enhancing user experience through AI technology.
How to use the playlist builder?
To use the AI Playlist feature, subscribers need to open their mobile app and tap on the "+" icon at the top right of their Spotify library. From here, they can select "AI Playlist" from a drop-down menu. This action will open a chat box where users can describe the type of playlist they desire, such as "spooky songs for Halloween" or "relaxing folk music for bath time."
Playlists and customization options
The AI-generated playlists consist of 30 songs each, which can be fine-tuned with extra prompts to better align with the user's preferred mood or vibe. For instance, users can request more upbeat music if they wish. Descriptions that specify genres, decades, moods, or artists tend to yield more accurate results. However, the system has demonstrated its ability to match songs even with niche descriptions like "make me feel like a vampire hunter from Blade (1998)."
AI playlist builder: A work in progress
Spotify has stated that it is still "actively learning and iterating with each exchange" while the feature is in beta. The company plans to introduce changes to refine AI Playlists, based on user feedback and usage patterns.
