Sony's new mid-range phone launched with triple cameras, HD+ display
As an addition to its portfolio of smartphones, Japanese electronics giant Sony has launched the Xperia L4 globally. The new handset arrives as a mid-range offering and is likely to go on sale in select international markets in the next couple of months. The phone comes with a waterdrop notched design, HD+ display, triple rear cameras, and mid-level internals. Here's our roundup.
A look at the Sony Xperia L4
The Sony Xperia L4 sports a waterdrop notched design with thin bezels around three sides and a thick chin at the bottom. On the rear, the handset houses a vertically-aligned triple camera setup with LED flash. The smartphone offers a 6.2-inch LCD screen with HD+ (720x1680 pixels) resolution, 21:9 aspect ratio, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
In terms of optics, the Xperia L4 houses a triple-lens rear camera setup comprising a 13MP (f/2.0) primary sensor, a 5MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP (f/2.4) lens to capture depth details. For selfies, video calling, and face unlock, there is an 8MP (f/2.0) front-facing snapper. Moreover, both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording 1080p videos at 30fps.
Under the hood
The Xperia L4 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core chipset, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Under the hood, the phone runs Android Pie and packs a 3,580mAh battery. In addition, it gets all the latest connectivity options including dual-SIMs (Nano), VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Will it arrive in India?
Sony is likely to launch the Xperia L4 in select markets in Spring 2020. But, there is no word on its availability in India as of now. As for the pricing, it is likely to cost around Rs. 15,000 if it launches in the country.
