Sony Xperia 5, with triple rear cameras, goes official
As an addition to its portfolio of premium smartphones, Sony has launched the all-new Xperia 5 at IFA 2019 in Berlin. The key highlights of the phone include its triple rear cameras, full-HD+ display, all-glass body, and flagship grade internals. The pre-orders for the handset will commence from next week in European markets. However, the company has not revealed its pricing as of now.
Sony Xperia 5: At a glance
The Sony Xperia 5 comes with a premium all-glass design. Up front, it features a rectangular conventional display with thin bezels on top and bottom. On the rear, the glass panel houses triple cameras and an LED flash. Further, the handset sports a 6.1-inch OLED display with a full-HD+ (1080x2520 pixels) resolution, 21:9 aspect ratio, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and Gorilla Glass 6 protection.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
In the imaging department, Sony Xperia 5 houses three 12MP rear sensors. The main camera supports 2x optical zoom, 5x digital zoom, HDR, bokeh effect, eye tracking, and is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps. For selfies, video calling, and face unlocking, the handset sports an 8MP (f/2.0) front-facing shooter.
Under the hood
The Sony Xperia 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor, paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Under the hood, it runs on Android Pie and packs a 3,140mAh battery with 18W fast-charging support. Furthermore, the handset gets all standard sensors and latest connectivity options such as dual-SIMs (Nano), VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C port.
Pricing and availability
The company has not revealed the pricing of Sony Xperia 5 as of now. However, it will be available for sale from next month. The pre-orders for the phone will commence in European markets from next week. Meanwhile, those who pre-book the handset will also get WF1000XM3 truly wireless noise canceling headphones.
