Sony PS5 Pro debuts today: Here's how to watch event
Sony has announced a PlayStation "Technical Presentation" scheduled for today, just days after hinting at the potential launch of a PS5 Pro console. The nine-minute stream will be led by Mark Cerny, the chief architect behind the PS5 console. Cerny is known for unveiling the full specifications of the PS5 prior to its 2020 launch. The presentation will be broadcast on the PlayStation YouTube channel at 8:30pm IST.
PS5 Pro: A closer look at the rumored design
The announcement of the technical presentation follows Sony's recent teaser of the PS5 Pro in an image celebrating PlayStation's 30th anniversary. The image featured a PS5 design identical to leaked images of the PS5 Pro from last month. These leaks revealed a console with three black stripes on its outer facades, a departure from the single stripe seen on the current PS5 model.
PS5 Pro: Expected hardware upgrades and compatibility
The PS5 Pro, codenamed Trinity, is expected to feature a more powerful GPU and a slightly faster CPU mode. These hardware changes suggest that the new console will be capable of delivering higher resolutions, improved frame rates for certain games, and enhanced support for ray tracing. Developers are reportedly preparing their games for this new console with any games released on or after September 16 needing to be compatible with the PS5 Pro.
PS5 Pro: Anticipated performance improvements and launch timeline
The PS5 Pro is rumored to offer improved and consistent frame rates at 4K resolution, as well as an 8K performance mode in supported games. Game rendering is said to be 45% faster than on the standard PS5, while the Pro's ray-tracing capabilities are reportedly two to three times faster. Sony has hinted at a potential launch later this year for this top-end console that will offer 4K gaming at 120 FPS.
