Sony's PlayStation Network hit by global outage, thousands report issues

Sony's PlayStation Network (PSN) suffered a major global outage today, affecting users around the world.
The disruption was first reported on Downdetector at around 5:20pm ET on February 7 (3:50am IST today), with complaints peaking at 5:49pm ET (4:19 am IST).
Over 68,000 users flagged issues related to server connectivity and login access.
Sony has acknowledged the issue and is actively working toward a resolution.
User complaints
Majority of complaints related to server connection failures
Most (78%) of the complaints were regarding server connection failures, while 19% were associated with login issues. A small percentage (3%) reported other functionality problems.
Notably, the outage came at the peak gaming hours, when a lot of users were coming back from work/school in the US and hoping to use PlayStation's online services.

Outage affects all PlayStation devices
The PSN outage impacted all PlayStation devices - PS5, PS4, PS Vita, and PS3.
Users were facing problems connecting to friends lists, accessing account management tabs, and also making purchases on the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct.
Those trying to log in were greeted with an error message saying that the "PlayStation Network is currently undergoing maintenance (WS-37432-9)."

Sony yet to disclose cause or timeline for service restoration
Sony has not yet revealed what caused the outage or when it will fully restore services.
By 6:00pm ET (4:30am IST today), nearly 70,000 users had reported the issue on Downdetector, confirming the widespread nature of the problem.
As of now, it is still not clear if this disruption was due to maintenance work, technical glitches, or something else entirely.
