Mark your calendars! Sony PS5 Pro pre-orders begin this date
Sony has officially announced the arrival of its latest gaming console, the PlayStation 5 (PS5) Pro. The new model promises a significant boost in performance compared to its predecessors, the PS5 and PS5 Slim. It is specifically designed to support 4K resolution gameplay at 60 frames per second (fps), offering gamers both high-quality visuals and smooth performance. The PS5 Pro is set to hit the market on November 7, with a retail price of $700.
PS5 Pro pre-orders commence on September 26
The PS5 Pro is a digital-only console, but it also supports an $80 disk drive attachment that Sony introduced last year. For those who prefer to position their consoles vertically, an optional vertical stand can be purchased for $30. Pre-orders for the PS5 Pro will commence on September 26 via PlayStation Direct, and major retailers are expected to start accepting pre-orders from October 10 onward.
PS5 Pro boasts larger GPU and advanced visual technology
The PS5 Pro is equipped with a larger GPU that, as per Sony, enables 45% faster rendering and supports advanced visual technologies such as AI-driven upscaling and advanced ray tracing. It also features a 2TB SSD, offering double the base storage space of the PS5 Slim models. This increased storage capacity is particularly notable considering that adding an extra 1TB to existing PS5 models typically costs around $100 or more if you choose the latest SSDs from Samsung or WD.
PS5 Pro's design and controller details
The PS5 Pro showcases a subtle design update with broader "racing stripes" on the side panels. It comes bundled with a standard DualSense 5 controller. Additional DualSense controllers are priced between $75-$80 each, depending on the color, marking a $5 price hike that was implemented this week.
