Soon, Netflix will stop working on these devices
With a humongous range of TV shows, movies, and originals, Netflix dominates as one of the finest content streaming services on the internet. The platform has grown progressively around the world (even in India), but according to a recent report by BGR, it won't be supported on certain devices starting next month. Here's the complete list of such devices.
Outgoing support for Samsung TV, Roku devices
According to the report, certain devices that have been supporting Netflix for a long while will be losing support from December 1. This includes Roku's dated media players - Roku 2000C, Roku 2050X, Roku 2100X, Roku HD, Roku SD, Roku XD, and Roku XR - and Samsung smart TVs manufactured/sold in the period between 2010 and 2011.
Samsung TVs will show a warning message
While Roku's outgoing support was known since last month, Samsung joined the list with an update on Tuesday. The company didn't list individual TV models but claimed that the affected models would show a warning message saying "Netflix will no longer be available on this device after December 1st, 2019" in the days leading up to the end of support.
But, why these devices are losing support?
Notably, these devices have become technically obsolete to support Netflix. Samsung cited these 'technical limitations' as the reason for killing support for its smart TVs. The company didn't provide specific details but Mashable claims these limitations keep the service from auto-playing the next episode of a series when one finishes.
However, you can still use third party streaming devices
While your TV may be losing built-in support for Netflix, it is important to note that you can still use the service by connecting a new, compatible streaming device. For instance, if your Samsung TV has an HDMI port, you can connect a Fire TV Stick, Chromecast or Flipkart's MarQ Turbostream Android TV stick to start binging your favorite Netflix shows.
