Moreover, the R2 comes with high-end internals including a Snapdragon 845 chipset and is slated to release in Japan next year. Here's our roundup.
Sharp Aquos R2 Compact: At a glance
Up front, the R2 features two display cutouts - a U-shaped Essential phone-like notch on the top to house the camera and a slightly wider cut-out at the bottom to enclose the fingerprint scanner. Further, there's an aluminum frame and a built quality that provides some dust and water resistance. The R2 features a 5.2-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
In the camera department, the R2 Compact sports a single 22.6-megapixel rear camera with high-speed autofocus, an f/1.9 aperture, OIS and electronic handshake correction for smoother videos. Up front, the phone gets an 8-megapixel selfie snapper with an f/2.2 aperture and supports face unlock technology.
Under the hood
The R2 Compact is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage (expandable up to 512GB). It packs a 2,500mAh battery and runs Android 9 Pie. Further, in terms of connectivity options, the R2 supports 4G VoLTE, GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and USB Type-C port.
