Sex robot Samantha will now become unresponsive, if treated inappropriately
Famous sex doll Samantha has been updated with a new feature. The robot will become unresponsive or go into "dummy mode" if she detects that her human partner is behaving too aggressively or if she is bored by their sexual behavior. However, disturbingly, users will still be able to engage in sexual activities with Samantha, she just won't respond physically or verbally.
Who is Samantha?
According to the official website of Synthea Amatus, the company that has created her, "Samantha is a project centered on a robot that is capable of enjoying sex." Samantha is the name of the project and not the robot. The robot's name can be changed. Completely offline, Samantha can keep you hooked with customized sex, romance, jokes, health facts, philosophy, and more.
The feature replicates consent only in theory
In dummy mode, Samantha's hands, arms, hips, and facial expressions will shut down. Samantha's creator Dr. Sergi Santos said he designed an AI system to let Samantha interpret a person's behavior. Even though the feature aims to encourage partners to receive consent before having sex, it might not stop users from anyway abusing Samantha in her "lifeless" state.
Why Samantha was created in the first place
Dr. Santos created the doll to satisfy his sexual urges, and according to him, that saved his marriage. He said, "For me, humans are not enough. I need sex some times of the day that my wife doesn't want to."
Why are AI sex dolls getting popular?
A section of researchers and sexologists support coitus between humans and robots, arguing that it can have therapeutic qualities and help people with dysfunctional sex lives by providing them with instant and customized sexual gratification. However, others claim that sex robots don't have a positive impact on how one sees sexuality as they promote conventional body types and attractiveness.
Availability
The intelligent sex robot is currently sold for $7,000. The latest version of Dr. Santos's creation includes non-toxic skin material and "reduced smell."
