Gamer connects 444 consoles to TV, earns Guinness World Record
Ibrahim Al-Nasser, a video game enthusiast from Saudi Arabia, has set a new Guinness World Record by connecting an impressive 444 different gaming consoles to a single television. This feat was achieved using a complex network of switches and converters. The challenge was not just about connecting the devices but also managing them efficiently.
Innovative solution to manage consoles
The task of managing such a large number of consoles was daunting. To overcome this challenge, Al-Nasser developed an innovative solution involving over 30 RCA switchers and more than a dozen HDMI switchers. These devices were used to connect gaming consoles from various eras, spanning over four decades. He also created a spreadsheet that serves as a guide for activating specific switchers to access certain consoles.
A blend of modern and retro consoles
Al-Nasser's collection is a mix of both modern and retro gaming consoles. It includes popular systems like the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam Deck as well as classic favorites like the original PlayStation, Nintendo 64 (with Disk Drive), and Sega Dreamcast. The collection also features hundreds of lesser-known systems, providing a comprehensive overview of video game history.
Al-Nasser's favorite console is the Sega Genesis
Despite his extensive collection, Al-Nasser has a personal favorite—the Sega Genesis. This 16-bit console was initially launched as the Mega Drive in Japan in 1988 before making its way to North America as the Genesis a year later. The system is known for hosting several popular titles including Disney's Aladdin and entries in the Mortal Kombat and Sonic the Hedgehog series.
