Soon, Samsung could launch an affordable Google Home competitor
In the game of smart home speakers, Google Home and Amazon Echo are the most preferred choices. They not just offer amazing capabilities with their respective smart assistants but are also relatively affordable, especially when compared to Apple's HomePod. But, soon, we may also see an affordable smart speaker from Samsung, one designed to take on Amazon and Google's offerings. Here's more.
Samsung's 'mini' Galaxy Home
Samsung entered smart speaker market months ago when it unveiled a device called 'Galaxy Home'. While the speaker isn't yet available, its fancy design and capabilities have led fans to believe it will sit in the premium segment, taking on HomePod. But now, the folks at Sammobile have learned that Galaxy Home's mini version is also in the works to capture the mass market.
Galaxy Home and its features
Samsung's classy Galaxy Home is powered by its own Bixby smart assistant. Plus, it is equipped with a range of features, including things like AKG audio, eight microphones, and the ability to direct sound towards the user's position,
What Samsung could offer with mini Galaxy Home
Details are nascent at this stage, but the mini version of Galaxy Home is also expected to run Bixby assistant, maybe version 2.0. It will come in black with model number SM-V310 and is likely to be smaller in size with fewer microphones than its elder sibling. Samsung may also ditch the subwoofer to keep its price in check.
However, no word on the exact price or availability
A mini Galaxy Home sounds like a fresh competitor for Google Home, Amazon Echo. But, it's imperative to note that Samsung has neither confirmed the existence of this smart speaker nor there's a word on its pricing. Also, even if Samsung manages to keep its price similar to that of Google Home and Echo, it would still have to make Bixby more capable.
