W2019 flip phone: Is this the most expensive Samsung phone?
As the successor to its last year's W2018 flip phone, Samsung has officially unveiled the ultra-premium W2019 flagship in China. The key highlights of the phone are its clam-shell design, dual AMOLED displays, Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 845 processor, dual-rear cameras and a few exclusive concierge features. Notably, the Samsung W2019 will only be available in China. Here's our roundup.
Samsung W2019: At a glance
Up front, there's an edge-to-edge rectangular display while on the back, a glass-panel houses a dual rear-camera setup and LED flash module. The Samsung W2019 features an aluminum frame with a dedicated Bixby button and fingerprint sensor mounted on the side. When flipped open, there is another conventional display along with a numeric and directional pad and quick-access keys. However, there's no headphone jack.
Samsung W2019 features dual AMOLED displays
Both the internal and external displays on the Samsung W2019 are same, featuring a 4.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a full HD resolution (1,920x1,080). While the displays are protected by glass, we don't know if it is Corning Gorilla Glass.
What else do we know about the Samsung W2019
The W2019 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, coupled with 6GB RAM, and 128GB/256GB of internal storage. It packs a 3,070mAh battery and runs Android Oreo 8.1 out-of-the-box. Further, there's a dual rear-camera setup comprising dual 12MP sensors with a f/1.5-f/2.4 variable aperture, OIS, 2X optical zoom. The rear camera also supports 4K video at 60fps and 1080p slow-motion video at 960fps.
Pricing and W2019's exclusive concierge service
In China, the W2019 is priced at 18,999 CNY (approximately $2,730), making it one of the most-expensive Samsung flagships ever. Further, the phone also comes with some exclusive concierge services including phone disinfection, an exclusive hotline, and free software fixes. Moreover, Samsung is also offering free screen and battery replacements twice a year.
