Samsung's latest software update is causing older phones to malfunction
Samsung's most recent software update is reportedly causing significant problems for older Galaxy smartphones, according to 9to5Google. The issue primarily affects the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series, with some users of the Galaxy M51 and A90 models also experiencing difficulties. After installing this update, these devices enter a bootloop and fail to fully restart.
Temporary solution and data loss concerns
The only known workaround for this issue is performing a factory reset on the affected device. However, this solution is far from ideal as it results in the loss of any data not previously backed up. Users who have not yet installed the latest update are advised to disable automatic updates until further information is provided by Samsung.
Software support challenges for older models
The Galaxy S10 and S10+ models are now five years old, a point at which many companies may cease regular updates. This incident underscores the potential difficulties hardware manufacturers can face when providing software support for older models. As of now, Samsung has not yet responded on how it plans to help users who have already bricked their devices after the faulty update.
