Samsung's new TVs magically disappear: Here's what it means
Samsung recently unveiled its new range of flagship QLED smart TVs at an event in New York. The standout feature of this new range is their ability to blend in with their surrounding environment, making them almost magically disappear. These devices are equipped with an Ambient Mode, which essentially allows them to mimic the surroundings making them nearly invisible.
Ambient Mode's ability to mimic surroundings renders them almost invisible
The Ambient mode uses color and matching pattern technology to mimic the background environment - just like a chameleon blends in with its natural surroundings. Once mounted, these QLED TVs blend in to the background making them almost transparent whenever they're tuned off. The ambient mode works on any surface - be it wood, brick, or white wall.
Samsung's attempt to redefine TVs beyond rectangular boxes
'Ambient mode can mimic the pattern on the wall behind the TV to create an astonishing visual effect in which the TV blends seamlessly into the wall', explained Samsung. Put simply, it's the company's attempt to redefine televisions beyond just rectangular hanging black boxes. These TVs also display information such as time, weather, traffic, and news updates when turned off.
Samsung's newest flagship QLED range will be available this month
Samsung has released five new QLED smart TV models ranging from 49 to 82 inches. All models are also equipped to control compatible smart devices such as smart security systems, voice-activated speakers, as well as IoT devices like smart bulbs and thermostats. Pricing is yet to be announced, however, the Korean giant has confirmed they'll be available for purchase in the next few weeks.
