Samsung's "most creative" smartphone to launch in second-half of 2019
Samsung has never shied away from design innovations - from curved screen edges to display holes and from foldable screens to rotating cameras - the South Korean tech giant has tried it all. And now, it is working on a breakthrough design for a new smartphone set to arrive in the second half of 2019, according to Samsung insider @UniverseIce. Here's all about it.
This is the tweet
The mysterious Samsung phone will feature a curved design
Recently, IceUniverse had claimed that Samsung and Huawei would release new designs in the second half of the year. He had said, "You'll see a superb curved design, a more aggressive curved display than Note7 will appear, and more than one brand will do so". This means the upcoming Samsung phone could either have a screen with all sides curved or a wrap-around screen.
The new design will debut on a Galaxy A smartphone
On a related note, Samsung's Galaxy A line-up has been all about "radical innovation." From three and even four cameras to punch hole displays and rotating cameras, all designs have debuted on a Galaxy A device. Hence, considering this series has become an early adopter of Samsung's newest innovations, we expect the new curved design to arrive on a Galaxy A series phone.
This new phone could be a button-less phone
Separately, a report claimed that Samsung is "applying keyless technology" to its upcoming smartphones (including Galaxy Note 10) wherein the physical keys will be replaced by haptic feedback-based capacitive buttons on the side of the frame. Clearly, this will allow for a smooth, uninterrupted design where the screen could seamlessly join the frame for a more rounded finish and improved water and dust resistance.
An all-screen smartphone with in-screen selfie camera
One other expected possibility for this mysterious phone is an all-screen design with the selfie camera placed under the display. Recently, a report claimed that Samsung is working on emerging technologies with an aim to house the front camera, sensors, and earpiece underneath the display. Hence, it is yet another possible way which will allow for an aggressively curved screen design mentioned by IceUniverse.
