The Samsung Galaxy S9+, which retained several elements of the S8 but saw significant improvements in the camera, has toppled the Google Pixel 2 and Apple iPhone X to proudly bear the title of the smartphone with the best camera yet. Samsung's Galaxy S9+ has beaten the Google Pixel 2 by setting an overall record benchmark of 99 in the DxO mobile camera test ratings. The Korean manufacturer's latest flagship has beaten the reigning champion, the Google Pixel 2, which scored 98 last year and has also displaced the Apple iPhone X to the third spot which scored 97 in the DxO test last year.

The Samsung S9+ set a new record with a DxO photo score of 104 and video score of 91. "At 91 points, the video score is a little lower but still among the best, making the new Samsung an ideal choice for any mobile users who want the best possible still image quality without compromising on video," said DxO in its analysis report.
Understanding DxOMark
DxOMark is a website that tests different types of cameras ranging from smartphone cameras to digital cameras and lenses. Tests are conducted wherein 1,500 images and over 2 hours of video are taken in controlled lab environments and in natural indoor and outdoor scenes.
Samsung Galaxy S9+ has a truly 'reimagined' camera
With a record overall score of 99, the S9+ has the best camera in a smartphone yet. S9+ sports a 12MP primary camera with f/1.5 / f/2.4 variable aperture and a 12MP f/2.4 secondary camera with 2X optical zoom and OIS. The main camera also features Dual PDAF and can record 4K video at 60fps and 720p super-slow-motion video at 960 fps.
