Context
Why does this story matter?
The Galaxy S22 Ultra will arrive as Samsung's next-generation flagship device with a combination of S-series's top-tier specifications and Note-series's design and stylus support.
Samsung had offered the 1TB storage variant only for the Galaxy S10+ model in 2019. The tech giant is bringing back that option since arch-rival Apple is now providing the 1TB storage option on its iPhone 13 Pro models.
Design and display
The phone will have a dedicated S Pen slot
The Galaxy S22 Ultra will feature a punch-hole design, slim bezels, curved edges, a built-in silo for the S Pen, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
It will bear a 6.8-inch QHD+ (1440x3080 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,750-nits of peak brightness, and HDR10+ support.
It will also offer Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for display protection.
Cameras
It is tipped to boast a 108MP main camera
The Galaxy S22 Ultra will sport a 108MP (f/1.8) primary sensor, a 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide lens, a 10MP (f/4.9) periscope telephoto snapper with 10x optical zoom, and a 10MP (f/2.4) telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. There may be a 40MP (f/2.2) selfie camera.
The front and rear cameras will be able to record 4K video at 30/60fps and 8K video at 24fps, respectively.
Under the hood
It may come with a 5,000mAh battery
The Galaxy S22 Ultra will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1/Exynos 2200 processor, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
It will boot Android 12-based One UI 4.0 and pack a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast-charging support.
For connectivity, the device will offer support for Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, GPS, NFC, 5G, and a Type-C port.
