    What's the story

Samsung has announced that it'll launch its next generation Exynos chip on 4th January, just days before the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2018 in Las Vegas.

The announcement was made through a tweet from Samsung's official Exynos Twitter account.

However, very little is known about it, except that Samsung wants to show off its "next" Exynos chip before CES 2018.

What we know about the new Exynos chip

The official teaser for the next Exynos chip doesn't give away its name.

However, logic suggests that the chip will be the Exynos 9810, the next generation mobile processor announced by the South Korean giant last month.

Although exact details aren't known, according to reports, the Exynos 9810 will provide significant performance upgrades over its predecessor chip, the Exynos 8895.

    Use

The Exynos 9810 will likely power the Galaxy S9 series

The Exynos 8895 powers the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, and the Galaxy Note 8.

It is believed that the Exynos 9810 will power the Galaxy S9 and S9+, which are reportedly due for launch soon.

On 27th December, both phones were certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US.

However, no other information was revealed by the FCC documents.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will reportedly feature minor upgrades over the S8 and the S8 Plus. The design will also remain the same with the exception of the fingerprint sensor which will be repositioned.

In the US, the Galaxy S9 series will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, while models released in India and other markets will feature the Exynos chip.
