Samsung patent hints at possible Galaxy S10 designs: Details here
Samsung is months away from unveiling its next flagship but smartphone enthusiasts are already speculating what the phone would look like. The device, likely to be called Galaxy S10, will complete 10 years of Samsung's premium S series and is expected to bring major upgrades, including an all-screen display. And now, we have a new patent, one hinting at its possible design. Here's more.
Multiple designs revealed in patent
In an industrial design patent, recently unearthed by LetsGoDigital, a number of Samsung smartphone designs were spotted. Most of them show all-screen display concepts with the recently unveiled Infinity O notch on the upper left corner of the screen. It looks like an in-display cut-out, where the front-facing camera would be resting.
However, the form-factors were different
Each design witnessed in this patent depicted a different form-factor. For instance, in some cases, the corners were square, while in others, they were completely or slightly rounded. Also, the type of display varied in the renders, with the use of flat and curved 'Edge' panels in different ways. Notably, the patent only had visual representations and not written descriptions.

This particular patent has been submitted in the Hague International Design System, which is a database of industrial design patents managed by World International Property Organization (WIPO).
Possibilities remain open, but we know where Samsung's headed
The patent opens different design possibilities and Samsung could go with any single one for Galaxy S10. Having said that, it is pretty much clear that Samsung is headed towards Infinity O, which would then pave the way for a full-screen New Infinity panel. Even phone-makers like Apple, LG, Huawei are also exploring the same ideas for enhancing the screen space of their devices.
When will Galaxy S10 be launched?
As of now, there's no word about the launch, but going by previous launch timelines, the phone is expected to appear in February, possibly during the Mobile World Congress 2019. Also, apart from an all-screen panel, Samsung could opt for an in-display fingerprint scanner and triple camera configuration. However, details are still pretty nascent and nothing is confirmed at the moment.
